The leading telecommunications company, Globacom has
unveiled plans for the 2nd edition of the "Glo Evergreen Series". The special music concert is dedicated to honour legendary Nigerian
musicians for their outstanding performances and contributions to the
development and growth of the nation’s music industry.
Curiously,
however, the second edition of Glo Evergreen Series is dedicated to King
Sunny Ade, the music maestro and legendary composer for his consistency
in the past 50 years and contribution to the juju music genre. And the
special concert will hold at the prestigious Intercontinental Hotel,
Victoria Island, Lagos on February, 28th with King Sunny Ade as the
headline act.
The night will feature a blend of classic and contemporary
music as the Koko master and talented entertainer, D’ Banj, and top
saxophonist Yemi Sax, will join King Sunny Ade on stage to entertain the
guests.
The first Glo Evergreen Series honoured Chief Ebenezer Obey, one
of the juju music legends in Nigeria in “a night of fun, glamour, glitz
and good music” on September 28, 2013. Chief Obey, in collaboration
with M.I and Yemi Sax, thrilled the audience, comprising captains of
industries, top government officials and Globacom’s premium subscribers.
According to Globacom, it “is a celebration of Nigerian music and true
values of the legend on parade.” King Sunny Ade’s fans who cut across
the young, industrialists, top administrators, socialites and political
aficionados are expected as special guests at the event which the
organizers say is strictly by invitation. ”
The Glo Evergreen Series holds quarterly and each edition
features a music legend that will play alongside young and talented
popular musicians
